SUNDAY LEAGUE RULES
The relevant junior waterpolo and/or water polo rules are applicable but there are some tournament rules that we have in addition to the standard rules. If there is any conflict then the standard rules will apply. FINA rules will be used for game and pool ties to determine a winner, if required.
BEFORE THE GAME
Each team is required to provide a parent to man the officials table. This involves running the scoreboard, recording the results and updating the exclusion board.
GAME DURATION
The game will consist of two 10 minute halves (unless otherwise informed) with a 2 minute break between halves to change ends.
DURING THE GAME
Teams and their supporters are expected to abide by the codes of conduct established for the club.
Players are not allowed to change caps. If the goalkeeper is replaced then the goalkeeper must take a new cap number not previously worn by another player – they are not allowed to use the cap of an existing player. The change may only happen during a break between halves and the change must be recorded on the record of the game along with the time of the change.
Substitutes and coaches are required to stay within their allocated areas for the duration of the game.
Managers are required to control the behaviour of their teams and supporters.
One parent is to keep a record of the time and indicate to the referee when the time has elapsed for each half.
The timekeeper is to record the timing for each ejection. The timing starts when play restarts after the ejection (the ejected player must remain in the pool). At the end of the ejection period (30 seconds) the timekeeper must signal the referee who will then allow the player to return. The player must wait for the referee and may not re-enter on the signal from the timekeeper. The player must enter the pool properly and the timekeeper is to indicate to the referee if there is a breach of this.
The other parent is to record the goal scorers and also the ejections against the relevant player. The referee will indicate the cap number of the goal scorer for each goal scored and for each ejection. The recordkeeper is to indicate to the referee when the ejection is the third for that particular player and that they are permanently ejected from the game.
In the event of brutality the recordkeeper is required to record this against the players name. The referee will stop the game and ask the offending player to leave the building. Only when the player has left can the game be restarted. An official investigation in to the incident will ensue.
Coaches are expected to provide discipline to their teams and Managers are required to ensure that parents/spectators are behaving appropriately. Codes of Conduct have been established for the different contributors in the sport.
No parents or supporters, other than time keepers, the coach and team manager are allowed onto the pool deck.
Any issues during the game should be reported to the referee during breaks by the coach or the manager.
The Sunday league co-ordinator is allocated to organise and supervise junior waterpolo and water polo and they can also be approached with any concerns ONLY by the coach or the manager.
Written complaints can be received by the Sunday league co-ordinator and/or a Committee Member after the game.
AFTER THE GAME
Caps are to be returned. The last playing teams are required to assist with the dismantling and storage of the equipment and assisiting in the resetting of the lane ropes.
The score sheets are to remain with HCWC.
Teams are expected to show good sportsmanship towards each other, opposition and officials.
Teams may choose to present their teams with “player of the day” or similar awards.
Any players ejected for brutality will need to present themselves for further sanction and action.
GENERAL
Sanction may be applied during or after any game in terms of the club procedures.
